Chocolate Covered Pretzel Rods are the perfect sweet, salty treat and great for the whole family. I made them for my son’s school holiday bake sale; they were gone in minutes. Feel free to double or triple this recipe, and thank me later.

Kids love to help decorate these pretzels, and the finished pretzels can make great little gifts. I used Hanukkah sprinkles and placed them in individual cellophane bags.

Ingredients Overview

Chocolate: Use your favorite kind of chocolate bars or candy melts. Semi-sweet chocolate, milk chocolate, dark chocolate, or white chocolate. The only rule is that you need to pick chocolate that you love to eat on its own.

Coconut oil or vegetable oil: While microwaving, adding a tablespoon of coconut oil or vegetable oil helps the chocolate melt more smoothly and makes it the perfect consistency for dipping.

Pretzels: I used Pretzel Rods. You can make chocolate-covered pretzels using any pretzel shape that you like.

Toppings: Sprinkles are a classic but feel free to be creative with crushed candy, nuts, and even shredded coconut.

How to Store Chocolate Covered Pretzel Rods?

Place them in an airtight container and store them for up to 2 weeks in the refrigerator. They also freeze well for up to 2 months.

Kosher, Dairy or Pareve

Ingredients

  • 20 pretzel rod sticks
  • About 7.56 oz (214g) chocolate bar/s of your choice broken into pieces I used a giant (25 pieces) Hershey Bar
  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil or canola oil
  • 1/4 cup Hanukkah sprinkles or any sprinkles of your choice, crushed nuts, crushed candy

Instructions

  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper, and set aside.
  • Prepare your toppings.
  • Place chocolate and oil in a microwave-safe bowl or a glass liquid measuring cup. Heat in 30-second intervals, stirring between each, until the chocolate is melted and smooth.
  • Dip each pretzel rod in the chocolate as far as you can. Tap off the excess chocolate, then place it on the prepared baking sheet. Sprinkle with your toppings.
  • Repeat until the chocolate is gone. Cool at room temperature or in the fridge. Cooling in the refrigerator is recommended if you want the pretzels to be ready quickly.
