Ingredients Overview

*The full recipe is in the recipe card below!

Watermelon: The star ingredient of the salad, watermelon provides natural sweetness, juiciness, and a refreshing taste.

Red onion: Red onion adds a mild, slightly pungent taste to the salad. It’s thinly diced to prevent it from overpowering the other flavors.

Feta cheese: Feta is a popular cheese in Mediterranean cuisine, and it brings a creamy and tangy element to the salad.

Fresh mint: Adds a pleasant coolness and subtle sweetness to the salad, which complements the other ingredients, especially in dishes with fruits like watermelon or citrus.

Add-ons (optional):

For a Greek-style watermelon salad, add Kalamata olives.

Thinly sliced or diced cucumber.

Fresh basil

Sliced or diced avocado.

Lime or lemon zest: A sprinkle of lime or lemon zest can provide a bright, citrusy note that complements the watermelon.

Balsamic glaze: Drizzling a balsamic glaze over the watermelon salad can add a sweet and tangy finish.

Oil: The base for the salad dressing. I recommend using high-quality olive oil.

Lemon juice: Its acidic nature helps balance the richness of other ingredients and adds a refreshing zing to the overall taste of the salad.

Honey: To sweeten the salad dressing.

Pro-Tips:

Choose a ripe and sweet watermelon: The key to a flavorful Mediterranean Watermelon Salad is using a ripe and sweet watermelon.

Drizzle the dressing: Just before serving, drizzle the desired amount of dressing over the salad. Start with a smaller amount and add more if needed, as you can always add more dressing but cannot remove excess once it’s added.
