Description

If you're a fan of a quick and simple recipe that is still out of this world delicious, then you're going to love this one.
Kosher, Pareve

Ingredients

  • 20 (about 200-300g) Medjool dates, pitted (the fresher, the better)
  • 3.5 oz (100 grams) dark chocolate chopped
  • 1 1/2 cups whole pecans (3 units per turtle)
  • 1/3 cup (80 ml) tahini paste (raw tahini)
  • 3 tablespoons sesame seeds or flaxseeds

Instructions

  • Carefully split the Medjool dates lengthwise to remove the pit and stem without breaking them in half
  • Place chocolate in a heatproof bowl and microwave for 30 seconds at a time, stirring after each time. Once the chocolate looks almost melted, stir the chocolate until it is completely smooth.
  • Lightly press three pecans into each date to create a triangle shape.
    Tahini-Date-Turtles steps
  • Fill the center of each date with one teaspoon of tahini.
  • With a spoon, drizzle enough chocolate to fill the date, put extra chocolate where the pecan intersects with the dates.
  • Sprinkle with sesame seeds or flax seeds.
  • Freeze for a few hours and enjoy. Store in the freezer.

Notes

  • You could also make this Tahini Date Turtles Recipe with almonds instead of pecans if preferred.
  • You can toast the pecans in a skillet for a minute or two to get a more toasted taste.
  • Sprinkle the turtles with a pinch of coarse salt to boost up the flavors.
  • For some extra fun, experiment with other chocolate like milk chocolate, white chocolate, or any combination of these.
