Description

This Babka French toast recipe combines the rich flavors of babka with the classic comfort of French toast.
Kosher, Dairy

Ingredients

  • 8 slices of babka (chocolate or cinnamon swirls work well) preferably slightly stale for better absorption sliced ¾-inch thick
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup milk 2% or whole milk or cream or half & half
  • 1 Teaspoon vanilla extract
  • A pinch of salt
  • Butter for greasing the pan

Optional toppings:

  • powdered sugar, maple syrup, fresh berries, or whipped cream

Instructions

  • Whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and salt in a shallow dish until well combined.
  • Heat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat and add a small amount of butter to grease the surface.
  • Dip each slice of babka into the egg mixture, ensuring both sides are well-coated but not overly soaked. Allow the babka to soak for a few seconds, but avoid over-saturating to prevent sogginess.
  • Place the coated babka slices on the preheated skillet or griddle. Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side or until golden brown and cooked through. Adjust the heat as needed during cooking.
  • Repeat the process for all babka slices, adding more butter as needed.
  • Once cooked, transfer the babka French toast slices to a serving plate.
  • Serve warm, topped with your choice of powdered sugar, maple syrup, fresh berries, or whipped cream.
